Department of Sports Development – Sri Lanka
The Department of Sports Development which was first established as a small sports unit in 1960’s was brought under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs & Sports in 1970 and it was upgraded to a Department in Grade “A” in 1996.
At present, the Department of Sports Development which plays an important role in the field of sports, by creating talented icons in sports through disciplines and sports culture for a healthy and active society, performs under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
